Children’s Bill Of Rights

At the Anthony DeJuan Boatwright Foundation (ADBF), we believe that every child deserves to grow, thrive, and be protected. The following rights uphold their dignity, safety, and well-being:

  1. The Right to Be a Child
Every child has the right to experience childhood fully—laughing, playing, making mistakes, and learning without fear of retaliation or undue punishment. Childhood is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that must be honored and protected.

  2. The Right to Safety and Protection
Every child has the right to be safeguarded from harm, neglect, abuse, or exploitation—by anyone who is old enough to know right from wrong, regardless of their relationship to the child.

  3. The Right to Legal Protection
Every child has the right to seek justice when wronged, with full access to civil and criminal recourse under the U.S. judicial system, ensuring that their voices are heard and their rights upheld.

  4. The Right to Quality Goods & Services
Every child has the right to receive safe, high-quality products and services designed for their well-being. When these fail to meet expected standards, children deserve proper recourse and accountability.

  5. The Right to Advocacy & Protection
Every child has the right to strong, informed advocacy—whether from parents, guardians, or responsible adults—ensuring they are not placed in harmful situations due to lack of knowledge, oversight, or negligence.

  6. The Right to Be Recognized as a Human Being
Every child is a person, deserving of respect, dignity, and care from the moment of birth. Their age does not diminish their humanity or their rights.

  7. The Right to Love, Respect & Parental Involvement
Every child has the right to be loved, valued, and respected—and to be taught to extend that same love and respect to others. Regardless of their parents’ relationship with each other, a child has the right to have both parents actively involved in their lives.

  8. The Right to the Best in Healthcare & Education
Every child has the right to quality healthcare, education, and opportunities that allow them to reach their fullest potential—without discrimination or systemic barriers.

  9. The Right to Responsible Care
Every child has the right to expect that every adult entrusted with their care will do everything within their power to nurture, protect, and support them.

  10. The Right to Life, Dignity & Happiness
Every child has the right to live free from fear, abuse, and neglect, with access to opportunities that foster joy, growth, and success—ensuring their pursuit of happiness is not just a privilege, but a guarantee.
